Serves: 3-4 Time: 10 minutes, plus 1 hour to press and 1 hour to marinate
Can't stop, won't stop BBQing tofu this summer! I'm literally obsessed! Probably because it's the easiest meal when you want a meatless option. It literally takes two minutes to prep and a few extra minutes on the BBQ to heat through and get those pretty little grill marks. ;)
What you need to make this dish:
1 block firm or extra firm organic tofu
1 tbsp avocado oil
3 tbsp Bragg's gluten-free soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced or 2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tbsp pure maple syrup
1/2 - 1 tbsp chilli garlic sauce or Sriracha (depending how hot you like it!)
1 large bowl for marinating
What to do to make this dish:
Start by pressing your tofu to remove excess water for at least one hour. Wrap your tofu in a paper towel, followed by a dishtowel and place on a plate with several heavy books on top of it.
After one hour or more, remove tofu and slice widthwise into half inch slabs.
Add tofu to your marinating bowl along with everything else for marinade. Mix well and let it sit for at least one hour, turning tofu half way through. (Like anything, the longer your marinate it, the better it will taste!)
Heat BBQ to medium high, then grill tofu on each side until you have nice grill marks like the photo. Serve hot and enjoy.
